Counselling

Counselling offers people an opportunity to talk in confidence to a professional trained therapist, about matters that may be worrying or distressing and hindering their normal capacity to manage their lives effectively, or with loss of sense of direction and purpose. Although counselling is a talking therapy, it is the listening and reflecting done by the counsellor that helps the client to understand their issue more.

Counselling offers support and helps you understand yourself, others and the issues or situation you want to explore. It is a way reducing confusion and of empowering you to make possible choice and change. It is not advice giving or directing you to take a particular course of action.

In a counselling session you will be encouraged to explore and express bottled up feelings, such as anger, grief and embarrassment so that they may be easier to understand.  The counsellor works with you to identify options and helps you decide which are best for you and give support through possible changes as you progress towards living in a way that is more satisfactory and fulfilling for you.

Counselling is worth considering for the following issues:

•  Abuse
•  Anxiety
•  Bereavement and Loss
•  Confidence
•  Depression
•  Domestic Violence
•  Employment Worries
•  Managing Change
•  Panic Attacks

A Session usually takes 50 minutes.
