After working in a busy corporate environment for many years at a senior management level Jane realised she needed something to help her maintain her health. She found this firstly through yoga, and then acupuncture. In time, she realised she wanted to offer the benefits of both yoga and acupuncture to other people.

Following a three-year course, Jane has a BSc (Hons) degree in acupuncture from the Northern College of Acupuncture and is a member of the British Acupuncture Council. She is also a qualified yoga teacher, trained at Mandala Yoga Ashram and registered with the British Wheel of Yoga, and a Hanna Somatics Exercise Coach.

Alongside her private acupuncture clinics Jane provides acupuncture on a voluntary basis at The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre in St James’s Hospital Leeds, helping alleviate the side effects of cancer drugs for men with prostate cancer and contributing to research in this field.
If it will help you, Jane can teach you simple yoga and somatics techniques to use between acupuncture treatments to help you maintain your health.

Services & Treatments

Acupuncture – Traditional Chinese Medicine

Acupuncture is a safe way to maintain or regain your health.

Traditional acupuncture is a form of healthcare dating back thousands of years. An acupuncturist fully trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine can treat a myriad of health conditions because acupuncture stimulates the body’s own healing responses, often by making a change in biochemistry.
There is a growing body of research to show this effectiveness. The British Acupuncture Council have produced factsheets containing information for specific conditions which can be found here

Your first treatment will be around an hour and twenty minutes. Jane will take a detailed history of your health and identify imbalances within your body. In most cases, she will also take your pulse and look at your tongue. Together, these allow her to make a diagnosis and develop a unique treatment plan for you.

Acupuncture points are stimulated using sterile single use needles. You may be aware of a mild sensation, such as a dull ache, when the needles are inserted, but treatment is usually pain free. Once the needles are in you can relax on the couch. Many people fall asleep.

Follow on treatments last between 45 and 60 minutes.
